Who are they?
Analysis

This cover magazine has a mid shot of the music artist, the photo was taken at a medium distance. They use a mid shot because you need to be able to fit the placement of the text over the centre of the body. with a mid shot, you can still see all the features of the artist, this will attract the target audience because of the colour of his clothes and his hair you can relate this to the colour pallette as they use dark colours.
The colour pallette is the different rage of colours that are used to illustrate what genre the cover magazine belongs to. The most used colour on this cover magazine is black, this colour can associate with dullness, fear, power, death. There's some colour of red and yellow, and these colours can associate with rebellious, powerful, evil, stress, violence. these type of words can be used in this type of genre and when they sing, they usually scream and shout from the top of their voices. This might be something to do with how they express their feelings. The colour pallettes will appeal to the target audiences because the colours aren't really boring, the red and yellow are quite bright colours and it might catch someones eye.
The main cover-line uses a serif block font. this might appeal to the audience because the writing all be strong and masculine.
The PUFF is a sticker on the magazine claiming you get a free CD if you purchase the magazine. this will appeal the audience target to buy this magazine because they can get a free CD swell as the magazine itself.
The placement of the text can be a big deal when it comes to magazine covers, you need to make sure the text is placed somewhere around the main image, not covering the face. the main cover line covers the body only.
Thursday 18th October
DIRT
There is also a PUFF which is a sticker showing that the magazine has had 159 reviews. The PUFF is incentive which is placed on the cover to make something stand out. Usually by putting text into a shape. This sticker which can be seen in almost every magazine and is used for promoting something inside the magazine. It is a sticker on the magazine claiming you get a free CD if you purchase the magazine. this will appeal the audience target to buy this magazine because they can get a free CD as well as the magazine itself.
This cover magazine has a mid shot of the music artist, the photo was taken at a medium distance. They use a mid shot because with a mid shot, you can still see all the features of the artist, this will attract the target audience because they allow the viewer to pick up on the character's movements and gestures. Body language is important to conveying emotion, and the medium shot remains close enough to capture that emotion.
The main cover-line uses a serif block font. this might appeal to the audience because the writing all be strong and masculine. The cover lines tell us the stories that are in the magazine. The colour of the cover lines is the same as the main cover line but the font is smaller to make the main cover line stand out. There are quite a few cover lines which are spread around the magazine cover. The language that is used in the cover lines are used so the reader wants to open the magazine and read on. This particular cover line suggests that the magazine is for older adults aged around 30-50.
The colour pallette is the different rage of colours that are used to illustrate what genre the cover magazine belongs to. Colour palettes also refer to the full range of colors that can be displayed on a device screen or other interface, or in some cases, a collection of colors and tools for use in paint and illustration programs. The colour palletes will appeal to the target audiences because the colours aren't really boring, the red and yellow are quite bright colours and it might catch someones eye.

This music artist has been presented as a flirty, girly pop artist. the way she's stood and looking over her shoulder can show the fact she's flirty, all the jewellery and piercings she has on can show she's girly, her curls can also show she's girly. All the jewellery suggests that she is rich. The expression on her face shows she is an approachable artist and she looks like she would be a nice person to others.
The genre of music is pop, i can tell because the colour palette is bright vibrant colours that stand out. I don't this this artist is very old because of her fashion and the way she is dressed. Her makeup makes her look very innocent.

1)

Close ups have been used so the frame is detailed and filled.
A long shot is used to set the scene. It also shows the entire object or human figure and is usually intended to place it in some relation to its surroundings.

Low angle shots can also be used to give the audience a sense that they are sharing the character's perspective, especially when they are looking down at something and the something in this music video is the potion.
2

This close up can show and tell us the emotions on her face, you can tell by her face that she's in a really serious mood. The black and white effect also suggests a dark connotation.

Media language in music videos
LO: To explore and analyse the use of media language in chosen case studies.
Analyse the media language in your music video. How are they similar/different.
The vamps-
They perform to the girls at their party so it is a performance video. the Miss en Scene is realistic because the scene is set on an actual beach, the outfit is appropriate for a beach as well. This music video follows the POP convention as the dancing is included. The colours that are used are bright so the colour pallete is is colourful. There's waves at the beginning of the video so there is diegetic sound.
Little Mix-
This music video is a narrative that contains some performance, but not to the camera. the science is in a school which is a realistic place. The clothes they are wearing are clothes that teenage girls usually wear but the magic that they use is not real. The colours ink the music videos are really bright, such as pink, yellow, orange, red and purple, this means the genre is POP. the editing in this song matches the pace of the song. The scene of the video might change if there is a change in the beat. The video includes promotion as it zooms in on the headphones, this will make the people watching the music video want to buy them. The message that the video is sending is that any girl can get the boy they want if they make and put in the effort. They are trying to promote beats headphones to the people watching the music video.

LO: To explore how BBC Radio 1 meets its PSB remit and meets the needs of its target audience.
Public Service Broadcasting (PSB)
In the UK it means broadcasting intended for public benefits rather than to serve purely commercial interests.
All of the BBCs television and radio stations have a public service remit which includes those that broadcast digitally.
the PSB are those who you can get for free on TV without box or cable: channel 4, channel 5 and the BBC.
Only the main channels of each of the other public service broadcasters have this status.
BBC Radio 1
Every radio station has to have its own brand identity. The audience is clearly addressed by presenters that are close to the age of their mail listeners demographic of 15-29.
Targeting a young audience, the language of the presenters is restless and energetic, often using informal everyday language that may include some slang and intertextual references to pop-culture.
Remit
The remit of radio 1 is to entertain and engage a broad range of young listeners with a distinctive mix of contemporary music and speech. Its target audience is 15-29 years old. it should offer a range of new music, support emerging artists - especially those from the UK - and provide a platform for live music.
In the evening specialist presenters, covering a broad range of musical genres, shout support artists at the forefront of new music, assisting their growth and development.
How have they met the remit?
Young teenagers use and wear a lot of bright colours and because the age range is 15-29, the colour palette will use a variety of bright vibrant colours.
The images used for the music videos are all basically the same, most of them have the artist stood or sat infant view and once again the colour palette uses loads of bright colours.
the website shows entertainment because you can watch live performances, live lounge performances etc.
Convergence
The merging of previously distinct media technology and forms due to digitisation and computer networking.
The advantage for BBC is that it is being shown on an extra website. They will get more viewers.
The advantage for Vevo is they are a big company so they will get a lot of money.
Once something is uploaded it will always be they're so you can rematch it.
the advantage for the audience is that it is quick and easy to access, and there is no time limit.

LO: To explore the use of media language in music videos.

Live Lounge
Gives them another option.
