LO: To research music video terminology and choose case studies. 
Subtitle: Music Video Terminology.


  • Narrative- The lyrics are often reflected in the story. there is a theme but its not followed by the artist in the song.
Performance- Performance based music video shows the artist/band performing, although they don't have to move or dance. A performance montage is where the people performing are shown in different places
  • Concept- These can be original stories, homages to a favorite TV show or movie, or anything else the performer or director comes up with.
  • Narrative illustration- This is the simplest and easiest concept to base a music video around as it is just a literal meaning to the song's lyrics in visual form. the video matches the song lyrics.
  • Narrative amplification- The conventions demonstrated by the music video creative director. They may use both performance and narrative, connotations.
  • Narrative disjuncture- The conventions demonstrated by the music video creative director. the narrative doesn't match the song lyrics.

  • Artists: Zedd & Alessia Cara 
  • Name of song: stay 
  • Genre: Pop 
  • Date song was released: 23rd February 2017
  • What is the song about: the song "stay" is about a girl asking her love to stay a little longer and stay a little longer.
  • Type of music video: Narrative/Performance.
  • What happens in the video: everything is happening in reverse and it keeps replaying the same things which is the man getting ready to leave.
  • Who features in the video: zeds & Alessia Cara.
  • How are the artists represented: Alessia Cara is normally seen with her hair down and curly. As shown in the video Alessia is shown with her hair down and curly. Zedd is normally seen with his hair pushed back so its not in his face. As shown in the video, zedd has his hair pushed back.

Music video planning

  • Name of the song/artist- Chasing cars/snow patrol. 
  • Genre- Britpop
  • Whats the song about- Getting to know someone, hoping they feel the same way about you, but feeling like you could live in those moments forever. 
  • What will you do- Go to different locations of the school and take different angles while shooting the video and then mimic what the man does in the video. 
  • Location- Patrs of the school.
  • Props- None
  •  Costume/Makeup- Change of clothes.
  • Equipment- None.

analysing horror poster

This image of this poster makes you want to watch the movie because this little girls eyes are a lot lighter than what they usually should be. This will make you feel consernd and worried about what has happened.  This film would be terrifying to watch because maybe it would have something to do with possession and she doesn't look very cheerful either.  They have used colours such as black, brown and white for this image because these colours make some people think of death so maybe there is some kind of murder or death in this film.  As you can see its not only the little girls eyes that are white, her face is also pale and her lips are like a brown / grey colour. There is no background in this photo as you can only see her face but i think this film would be really good to watch and it would be really horrifying.
